Penelope Lusk, PhD, discusses shame in learning, describing how "embodied identity shame" arises when persons are confronted with narratives and perceptions about identity, health, and bodies in the classroom. Through addressing and understanding shame in learning about health, bodies, and identity, we can support more inclusive and humanistic practice in the healthcare professions.
Tea and cake with the speaker will follow from 4–6 p.m. in the President’s Library.
To attend online please register using the registration code above. Health Humanities events are open to the entire MCPHS community. Talks are recorded, and most are posted online a few days after the event.
